Container or containers must be at least ten feet from any building on adjoining property, any sidewalk, or any of the exposures described in (a)(iii) or (iv) of this subsection.

Containers must be in a suitable enclosure or otherwise protected against tampering. The outdoor storage area will be provided with at least one approved portable fire extinguisher having a minimum rating of 8-B or C. Propane cylinders will not be stored inside the building unless there is a fire permit allowing such storage or when the cylinders are stored for LP-gas fuelled industrial trucks and the quantity of LP-gas stored does not exceed three hundred pounds (300 lbs) (approximately two thousand five hundred fifty cubic feet in vapor form). Storage areas will be marked with proper flammable liquid signs. Propane storage cages will be located on firm level ground, preferably on a solid concrete pad. Propane cylinders will be stored in an approved safe distance away from doorways, confined spaces, emergency exit, stairs or low-lying areas such as ditches or pits, as propane will flow into ditches and settle close to the ground or near air intakes into ventilating or heating equipment. Ideally storage area should protect cylinders from rain, snow, ice and sun. All forklift operators will be trained on safe handling and exchanging of propane gas during their PIT Training conducted by external contractor or by in-house Trainer. Once forklift training will be completed, leadership will forward certificate to Training and Development Department by using TAG. Forklift training records will be available on TAG.

Propane vendors are set up to automatically replace empty propane cylinder.
