All machines repairs and maintenance will be contracted out by Facilities. Managers will have to issue a maintenance request using EGNW Facilities service request desk. Disposal of any such equipment will be communicated to Insurance & Claims Manager by Finance Department. Insurance and Claims Manager will notify Insurance company to discontinue and remove equipment from coverage. Specific procedures/work instructions will be developed for equipment/machine/tools requiring additional safety measures or legal requirements. 9.8 Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) PIT refers to any mobile power-propelled truck that is used to pull, push, carry, lift, stack or tier materials. These trucks can be controlled by a walking operator or ridden. This definition does not include any machinery that moves earth or functions for over-the road haulage. Working with PIT have many hazards that could lead to injuries, death or property damage. EGNW operates, leases and owns several PITs and will ensure safe use of these equipment to prevent accidents. Stores will collaborate with R&S during planning phase of PIT acquisition to ensure use of PIT is minimized and no new risk is introduced in the business. Purchasing Department will communicate with Insurance and Claims Manager to ensure purchase of any new, rented and or leased PIT are insured. EGNW will require that all forklift operators be trained, certified and authorized before they can operate a forklift. Department Management will ensure that both theory and practical training are provided prior to authorizing an operator to use a forklift. Training will be conducted by external contractor or by appointed certified (experience and knowledgeable) in-house trainers. . A refresher training will be required after an incident and a recertification training will be required every 3-year. Training records and certificates will be forwarded to Training Department using Training At Goodwill” (TAG).
