The focus for this year is more on categories than Key Looks. Key Looks will mostly be on end caps or end grids of the Halloween shop (depending on layout). Please use the map layout for your location included in this binder. Please use layout sheets and include all styles listed. Photos are for reference to show how all items will fit in the section. Please start with the layout in the photos then adjust for stock on hand. Please reach out to the visual team with any questions.

Do not use any old signage or collateral. Only signage and collateral shown in the directive is to be used.

The key to selling merchandise fast and at full price is keeping it categorized, clean, and organized. flex as the merchandise sells and new styles deliver, condense, and bring in donated merchandise to fill in with the appropriate categories/looks if necessary. When last year product is returned, process and separate by category. Look to see if it is a repeat item, if so add to this year’s peg/shelf. For example, if you have Lolita blonde wigs from last year, merchandise on same peg as Lolita blonde from this year. If it is not a repeat item, then there are two options: create a section after donated to merchandise last year new goods by category, or work into category in this year shop as this year items sell down. Do not merchandise all last year product as a stand alone presentation.

All stores should schedule dedicated costume consultants for each weekend for October 11:00-3:00 shifts What is a costume consultant? • An associate that is knowledgeable and excited about the Halloween product in their store. • An associate that asks qualifying questions to help a customer quickly create a costume. • An associate that is creative and enjoys helping customers build a complete costume. • An outgoing, friendly associate with the ability to upsell. Why a costume consultant? • Vital to store sales. • Responsible for maintaining one of your busiest departments during a busy season. • Excellent guest experience. Expectations of the costume consultant: • Dedicated to department. This should be their primary responsibility during established costume consultant hours. • Know and maintain department and Halloween resources. • Approach and assist customers to create a full costume, including donated and new goods. • Wears appropriate costumes during all costume consultant shifts.

3 Questions to Ask the Customer: • Do you have any idea what you want to be for Halloween? • Do you want to be something scary or something fun? • What is your budget? Know Your Department • A Halloween Costume Consultant can find a costume for a customer quickly • Costumes can be made from new and donated product • Knowwhere the following items are in your store, and what kind of items are available: hats, belts, accessories, costume props, jewelry • Remember, just because it isn't in the Halloween department doesn’t mean it couldn’t be great for a Halloween costume! • Make sure to present all customers with a complete Halloween costume- accessories are just as important as clothing! Costume Consultant Success • At the start of your shift walk the Halloween department and know what merchandise you have on hand. • Be familiar with new product. • Make sure the Halloween product is organized and easy to find. • Keep thinking of new costumes you can create. • Share your ideas with other associates. • Stay excited about Halloween!

Costume CONSULTANT IN STORE TRAINING

Discuss role and importance of costume consultant. Review categories and available items in store. Discuss potential costume ideas. Brainstorm all the pieces needed for a few sample costume ideas. Don’t forget to include both donated and new goods to come up with a complete costume. Discuss costume consultant expectations.

Costume Consultant Demonstrations Role model qualifying questions. Find a costume in five minutes or less. Discuss the steps.

Costume Consultant Role Play Give the costume consultants five minutes to become familiar with the Halloween product. Pair associates up to practice. Have associates demonstrate qualifying questions and finding a costume in five minutes or less. Discuss what worked well and any opportunities you see for improvement.

The “tail” of the zip tie should face the inside.

Place one se in each corner (as shown).

Pull end cap away from end of lozier aisle.

Clean inside peg board (or solid center)

Center on end cap and line up edge with underside of top rail on end cap

Press FIRMLY and hold for about 30 seconds

Move end cap back into place

**There will be a small gap between the end of lozier and end cap. This is OK. When items are placed in last section of lozier, it will not show .

It is very important to follow the instructions for storing houses. This will ensure that we are able to use them again next year.

Place the house back inside the labeled cardboard sleeve it delivered in.

When it is time to remove the Houses Carefully cut the zip ties make sure not to damage the House.

Use masking tape to seal the “sleeve” and place in sign storage area. • Double check that the sleeve is labeled “Halloween Haunted House – Save”

How to build, install and store the Halloween Gate

Build / Install

1. Locate the box

2. Unpack everything from the box – Take to Sales Floor

DO NOT THROW AWAY THE BOX! Place all packing materials back inside the box and set aside.

2. Locate the instructions (inside a zip log bag attached to frame along with finials and wrench).

3. Build laying on the ground facing down – starting from the top. Screw top of arch together and add finials to ends.

**All “nuts” needed are attached to the screws on the frame 36

4. Small and long side pieces are next.

5. Followed by Gates – Make sure they are facing down and closed in front.

6. The feet go on last

9. Slide end caps over if needed to get gate in place.

10. Gently slide back in place to sit next to feet.

11. Using (2) black zip ties per gate, zip tie to hold gate open against inside of aisle. One on the top and one on the bottom where shown.

Make sure the “tail” of the zip tie faces in and is cut off.

14. Return instructions and wrench to plastic zip lock bag and place back in the box.

Build / Install weights

Each store will receive two the following to create a weight for the feet of the gate.

Brick (colors may vary)

Paver Stone (colors may vary)

Yellow/Orange Ombre Tissue Paper

1. Place Paver on base of gate “foot” – one on each side

2. Place Cauldron on top of Paver and zip tie to gate with black zip tie.

3. Place Brick inside of cauldron

3. Use tissue to create “fire” (one whole pack per cauldron)

1. Locate the box Remove from floor / Store

2. Remove Urns/Sandbags from feet, clip zip ties, close gates and lay entire Gate on the ground (out on the sales floor)

3. Unscrew nuts from supports (top and bottom) and top arch, separate pieces and reattach nuts to screws on frame.

4. Separate all pieces from each other.

5. Wrap all pieces and place back into original box. Place finials back into zip lock bag with instructions and wrench. Place bag in box. Tape box shut.

6. Pack pavers, cauldrons, bricks and tissue into a tote and place with gate box for use next year.

1. How do I make everything fit on the featured look grids? • Start by grouping like items • Merchandise “Head to toe” as much as possible. Keep everything in neat rows and “boxes”. • Keep smaller items towards the top and larger items toward the bottom • See photo examples 2. What if I have an item that is not on the sheet? • Look at what the item is. • Does it go with one of the featured looks? If not, what category is it from? Merchandise it in the best location to promote cross selling. 3. What if I don’t have all of the items on the sheet? • Make sure you have looked in all of the totes and boxes. If you don’t have it, just work with what you do have (don’t worry about or leave empty spaces for what you don’t have).

4. What do I do when I receive product after my initial shop set? • You will receive updates throughout the season to help you with where to place new product. Make sure you adjust the presentation to fit the new items. If you did not receive an update, just like #2, look at what the item is and merchandise it in the best location to promote cross selling. 5. Can something be merchandised in more than one location? • YES! If you have overstock of an item that is in one of the featured looks, it can also be in the category it represents. If you have an item that matches two featured looks, it can be merchandised in both. 6. Some items are on more than one “look” page. Where do I put them? • Some items will work with more than one “look”. You can put them in both places (if there is enough stock), or pick the look that has the most room. 7. Can I have back stock? • YES! Make sure there is at least one peg of everything out on the floor. • Organize back stock in totes labeled with the category/look and items inside for easier stocking. • Stock the floor daily and condense product as it sells down to make room for back stock and new items. 65

8. What do I do with last year product returned from the warehouse? • Process and separate by category. • Look to see if it is a repeat item – add to this year’s peg • For example, if you have Lolita blonde wigs from last year, merchandise on same peg as Lolita blonde from this year. • It is ok to have back stock. • If not a re-peat item there are two options: • Create a section after donated to merchandise last year new goods by category • Work into category in shop as items sell down
